The dollars you raise us help move us closer to a cure.

Every step that you take and every dollar that you raise means increased awareness and more dollars for research, services and programs to help those facing the daily challenges of living with MS. The Society spends more money on MS research than any other voluntary health agency in the world, investing some $40 million annually on research programs. This includes more than 440 MS research investigations at the best medical centers, universities and other institutions throughout the United States and abroad. This investment is paying off in significant progress toward finding treatments and in better diagnosis, rehabilitation and symptomatic therapy for people with all forms of MS.

Research funded by the Society falls under several general categories including:

> Therapy of MS
> Care, Management, Rehabilitation, Psychosocial
> Immunology
> Nerve Tissue Repair and Myelin Biology
> Genetics
> Infectious Triggers
> Neuropathology/Neurophysiology
> Health Care Delivery & Policy
> Resource Banks

How your dollars make a difference
With lower than average administrative and fundraising costs, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is committed to ensuring that the maximum amount of money raised funds groundbreaking research and provides direct services for people living with MS.

5 Fundraising Event Ideas
Here are some of our favorite fundraising event ideas we have heard from fellow Walkers. As you can see, our Walkers are creative and show a lot of spirit when it comes to raising money for this important mission - ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

arrow_angle_rightBirthday Gift Pledge. It will be a lot easier for your friends and family to write you a birthday check instead of spending hours trying to shop for you. And then you can donate the amount to your pledge total.

arrow_angle_rightGarage Sale. Do you really need all that extra stuff taking up space in your garage, attic and basement? Gather it up and ask your friends to do the same. Then pick a Saturday or Sunday, put the stuff in your front yard and sell! All money raised can go toward your fundraising goal.

arrow_angle_rightOffice Fundraising Challenge. Speak with everyone in your office and get them to challenge each other to raise the highest amount. Give the winner a prize like movie passes or a gift certificate to lunch or dinner.

arrow_angle_rightTheme Party/Dinner. Hold a theme party for 10 or more of your friends. Have each guest donate $50, spend no more than $20 per person on food and you'll have $300 or more in pledges by the end of the night!

arrow_angle_rightBowling Night. Plan a fun night of bowling at your local lanes. Ask the owner to waive the cost of bowling. You can collect that money and turn it into pledges.

Raise $500 in 5 Days:

> Start by sponsoring yourself for $50.
> Ask two family members to sponsor you for $50 each.
> Ask ten friends to contribute $20 each.
> Ask five co-workers to contribute $20 each.
> Ask your boss for a company contribution of $50, or better yet, find out if your company will match what you raise!
